What a fab day for a Hash, you couldn’t have asked for a better day! The setting was fantastic, a provincial Catalan town, a run through the Ramblas weaving amongst locals out enjoying the evening and the local fiesta, down to the waterfront and along the beach promenade with a diversion onto a disused miniature railway (where instead of calling “on on” you had to say “chu chu”). At the end of the promenade, there was a short run on the beach disturbing the late sunbathers, going up and over the point then heading into the hills behind the town with a couple of low walls to get over. For the serious runners there were 2 long straight stretches and some good check points, allowing the rest (Sheepish) to catch up with the pack. Our youngest Hasher, Nicola, (18mths) came to join in the fun and ran the first few meters on her little legs and was thrilled with having her own ”down down”.
“Down Downs” were held on the Hare, Pol’s, roof terrace with a small BBQ and plenty of beer and wine. All of us got a down down for getting lost and being late for the start: was it the GPS ‘Emily’ who can’t give out the correct directions or all the useless Hashers who can’t read them? When the sun went down we were still soaking up the warmth from the terrace roof tiles before heading back to BCN for a Saturday night!
Don’t forget that the Hash in June is a weekend away in Rupit for even more fun, running and drinking!!!
